Privacy Policy

Effective August 4, 2026

Lexiary ("the app") is a vocabulary-learning app for Android and iOS, developed by an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app handles and where it goes.

The short version

Your learning data stays on your device. Lexiary has no accounts and no sign-in. We collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to keep the app working well, and nothing that identifies you personally.

What stays on your device

All of your learning progress — your word lists, familiarity levels, quiz history, streaks, daily goals, and badges — is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers.

On Android, this data is included in your device's standard backup (Google's Auto Backup), which is encrypted and managed by Google under your Google account settings. Uninstalling the app deletes all local data.

What we collect

Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics). Anonymous events such as "a quiz was completed" or "a word was mastered", along with coarse properties like your chosen learning goal and active language, your device model, and operating system version. These are not linked to your name, email, or any account, because the app has none. We do not collect your advertising identifier, and the app contains no advertising.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). If the app crashes or misbehaves, a technical report (stack trace, device state, and recent app-internal log messages) is sent so the problem can be fixed. These reports do not contain personal information.

App integrity checks (Firebase App Check). When the app talks to our server, the device attests that the request comes from a genuine copy of Lexiary (Google Play Integrity on Android, Apple DeviceCheck/App Attest on iOS). This is an anti-abuse measure, not tracking.

These services are provided by Google Firebase. See Google's privacy documentation for how Firebase processes this data.

Our server

Some features contact our server at api.lexiary.app:

Bug reports

If you shake your device to report a bug, the app opens your own email client with a pre-filled message containing your description, an optional screenshot, your device model, and the word you were studying. Nothing is sent unless you press send, and it is sent from your own email account to lexiaryapp@gmail.com. We use these emails only to fix the reported problem.

Notifications

Practice reminders are generated and scheduled entirely on your device. You can change their frequency or turn them off in the app's Settings or your system settings.

Children

Lexiary is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Data deletion

Because your learning data lives only on your device, uninstalling the app deletes it. Anonymous analytics and crash data cannot be tied back to you and therefore cannot be individually retrieved or deleted; it is retained under Firebase's standard retention periods. If you have any privacy question or request, contact lexiaryapp@gmail.com.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change — for example, when optional accounts and cloud sync are introduced — this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the effective date above will reflect it.
